Last Weekend
On the road to Bellingham...
Adam, Kaitlin and Betty (friends from Montana) came to visit me in Seattle and we took a wee roadtrip to Bellingham for a few days where it was snowy, icy, and oh so cold! It was cool to see these guys as we hadn't played together for a few years. Wicked to be able to still laugh and enjoy ourselves like no time had passed. I love and appreciate my friends so much! Some of the family might remember Kaitlin from Henry and Kara's Wedding.
Outside the infamous Liberty
This is what we look like amusing ourselves out of the cold...
Note to Viewer
Okay, so for anyone who lacks a sense of humor, particularly an anonymous comment maker, the photo of Jaden watching tv was staged. A joke. I think it's funny and if you don't follow my humor then either lighten up or quit viewing my blog.

Procrastination with Purpose
I'm sitting at the Ballard Library where I came to get some work done. I woke up feeling motivated. I still am- only motivated now to post a new type of post. A written one. A this is what's going on in my mind post. A bit more personal than the photos I oh so love showing. I digress, I continue. . .
I was sitting at a Cafe drinking my coffee (my first act of procrastination before the library because I admitted to myself I needed a bit more juice to sit in front of the computer and work), reading about Multiple Intelligences and feeling inspired in so many ways.
First by these quotations (Samantha- aren't you proud I didn't say quotes?):
The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.
Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance or insignificance can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor to the last generation. We say we are for the Union. The world will not forget that we say this. We know how to save the Union. We world knows we do know how to save it. We, even we here, hold the power and bear the responsibility...
We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last, best hope of earth. Other means may succeed; this could not fail. They way is plain, peaceful, generous, just- a way which is followed the world will forever applaud and God must forever bless.
Any guess who or when? Okay, I'll tell ya- Ole Abe Lincoln in 1862 addressing Congress. Are you as inspired as I? And the second quotation I'll write another day because it is even longer and my typing stamina is waning.
This leads me to another source of excitement in my day- reading about multiple intelligences and understanding just how important it is for each of us to find what it is we do really well. It's too easy sometimes to get caught up in what we cannot do, getting frustrated with wishing we were better at something than simply facing the facts- you're not naturally good at it! Might sound a bit harsh but aye why not try instead to look at what we are naturally good at and feel proud of the skills that we possess, the qualities that are innate to our natural selves? And hey if you still want to be better at something that doesn't come naturally then do something about it. Take a class. Read a book. Ask for help. But shit man don't settle for selling yourself short because we all have awesome skills, assets, qualities, intelligences (whatever you want to call them) that will help make the world a better place. The first step is accepting and appreciating and from there the world is your oyster!
Okay I'll get off my inspirational soapbox and do some work. Have a good day!

Tangente Cafe
The Cafe I used to work at.
I was a barista/waitress/dishwasher/food prep/bee-bopper. This was the first fast-paced job I had in a loooong time. Another waitress told me on my first day, as I casually dreamed in the clouds as I washed the tabletop, "We do things fast around here." I caught on and thrived on the fast-workin' cafe groove.
