My Home

The wee cottage I live in. It still needs quite a bit of work but is just perfect for me. I'm planning on being here for a while so I'll send more photos as we fix 'er up. People call it the gnome home but I prefer wee cottage becasue I think of a gnome home looking quite different. I don't know if you can tell but that middle part of the roof is a skylight- pretty nice!

Lookin in from my front door.

Katie, the house dog, and Rua chilling in the sun on the front steps of the main house.
I have to get back to work now but I have more pics that I'll be putting up as well as an update in a sense.

In my wee cottage. You can't tell here but I'm trying to get Rua's attention to play with that stick that he loves so much... his food was more of a priority. There's another little toy he loves that's a small plastic stick with a fluffy white thing on the end. He goes crazy over it and well the reason I'm telling this possibly boring little story is that the toy is called a pussy tickler! I think that's pretty funny! haha

Surpise First Weekend Back

Me, Charlotte, Daisy. On the way to the undisclosed location... while I was away my friends planned a suprise trip for the first weekend I was back. They told me what to bring (one thing being a pair of shoes I could run in if I needed to- I sure was intrigued!).

Charlotte and Yvette. We had to stop the van often on our way up because there was a leak in the newly fixed water pump. It actually worked out quite well because we cruised, taking our time, enjoying little places (like this parking lot) we may have driven by and never even appreciated.

Leslie, me, Charlotte and Daisy. The suprise was a dance party with heaps of good music, yummy food, and beautiful scenery. What a welcome home! A big part of the New Zealand summer is traveling around with friends, old and new, going to music festivals, dancing in the sun, playing in the sea- a pure all body sense of freedom and release after a harsh winter. So this weekend was my bit of summer groovin.

Home sweet home

First day back and at work. We only had one student so it was pretty cruisy which was good for me considering I had been travelling for thirty hours the day before. We went for a walk (hike) in the hills above Dunedin. There's a view of Dunedin city and harbor. The hills in background are part of a penninsula.

On the walk down, through native bush.

Rua's first morning. So yup- I've got a kitten now and he's so friendly and loving! It's such a new, crazy so good feeling to have an animal be totally into me. He sleeps with me at night all cuddled up in my arms like a teddy bear. I'll get some better photos so post soon. As a result I'm now looking for a new place to live (to make long story short got the kitty while Roxy (flatmate) was gone and she's not at all into the idea of having a wee kitty around so I'm moving on. I've got friends to stay with for now and a few other friends (Yvette and Charlotte) are wanting to get a place together. I'll miss being a way from town at the beach and all but I know I'll live there again someday, maybe next summer. Looking forward to a change of scenery and living closer to town so I won't have to do the 30 minute commute over big hills in the winter months. Woooohoooo! I love new opportunities!

Travels with Anfred

When Anne picked me up from Forrest's a few days before I flew off we had planned to visit a friend in San Diego. Unfortunately the friend was a bit crook so as we drove away from Forrest's Anne asked "so where shall we go?" and with that California, Arizona and Mexico where at our fingertips it was just a matter of what direction! We decided San Fran... why not?! and then on the way decided to stop by and visit Todd in Summerland, just south of Santa Barbara. We never actually made it to San Fran because we poked about instead. What a great last few days I had, as always with good ole Anne ( I like to call her Anfred- don't ask it goes a ways back).

Where we stayed for the week

The room I stayed in after Walter and Ellie sadly had to fly home early.

Forrest's shower- pretty cool aye?! There is a screen on top so you're basically outside without leaves and yuck falling in on you. I'd like to incorporate this feature into my house someday.
