Our Veggie Garden

It's definite;y feeling like summer now! We've started from scratch with the garden and it's so exciting now that everything is getting bigger and it's producing! We've had a big and beautiful broccoli and a red cabbage head, as well as parsley, silverbeet and lettuces. Oh and radishes but we haven't actually eaten those yet (I don't actually like them all that much).

Brussel sprouts, a lil' spinach and a bit o' onion

Onions, lettuces, a lil' swiss chard and a capsicum, grape vines and basil (which is so little you can't even really see..but it is there!)

Not a very flattering picture of me, but it's a good indication of how massive Rimu is... and this was almost a month ago! He's 8 months now and growing and growing and... whew!

We cut a big tree down that was blocking a lot of light into the lounge and was completely smothered in vines- Clematis I think. This is the before shot.

Just one tiny bit of the vines mass- pretty wild!

The after shot- makes quite a difference!

The gardens

Ignore the hideous dish left over from the last residents. I don't think Kris wants to part with it just yet with the hopes of someday having more than 3 channels.

The left window is our lounge and the right our bedroom, for what it's worth. It's funny me sharing our house in bits and pieces... oh well at least it's something!

That's my office on the right.

Our front gardens

It's been wicked this Spring seeing all the flowers come alive! Since we bought the house in the winter when everything was asleep, we had no idea what was to come. I've been told it's a very "cottagey" garden. I love the wildness of it and noticing the life cycles of the flowers. Just as one's peaked and is on it's way out another flower's blooming and full of life. I've never really cared much about flower gardens before, been more interested in veggie gardens and all the yumminess that comes with the growth. Now I'm digging the flowers as well! I'm always picking them and bringing the colors and energy into the house- so fresh and full of life!
